Thrift Store DIY: Gold Piggy Bank Decor
Looking for a special baby shower gift that won’t break the bank? How about this trendy rose gold piggy bank? No one will ever know it’s an upcycled version of something old you found at a thrift store!

While you can use the same instructions to update a lamp or vase, this gift is particularly special because it can be stuffed with what new parents want to most: money! Follow these super simple instructions to create a one-of-a-kind gift. No piggy to be found? Simply use another color of spray paint to upcycle an elephant or any other number of banks you come across.

Upcycled Piggy Bank
Upcycle an old piggy bank with a bit of spray paint!
Materials
- A thrift store piggy bank (or an old one you already have!)
- Rose gold spray paint. (I used Krylon K02203 General Purpose Aerosol, 12-Ounce, Copper Metallic Finish.)
Instructions
Step 1: Wash the bank with soapy water and let it dry.
Step 2: Wipe down the bank down with rubbing alcohol and let it dry completely.
Step 3: Review the instructions on the back of your spray paint can of choice. As per most instructions, shake the can for 1 to 2 minutes before spray painting. (Make sure you spray the first few sprays on a newspaper or cardboard just to get the splotchy drips out before you spray your bank!) They spray in long even strokes.
