Best Things to Do at Legoland Florida: Ultimate Fun Guide

When I think about family fun with a creative twist, Legoland Florida is one of the first places that comes to mind. This vibrant theme park, nestled in the heart of Winter Haven, offers a mix of interactive attractions, shows, and models that cater to Lego enthusiasts and fun-seeking families alike. It’s a spot where I can indulge my inner child while creating new memories with the little ones, exploring a world built from millions of these iconic bricks. Plus, there is always something NEW to explore!

I’m always amazed at how Legoland Florida blends education with entertainment, making it a unique destination where kids play and learn. We were recently invited to enjoy the NEW attraction Build & Race which is a partnership with Ferrari! Not only are there rides and attractions to enjoy all day at the park, but there's also interactive activities for your little brick builder!

What to Expect

When you visit the new attraction, get ready to be amazed by the the world’s only life-size LEGO Ferrari 296 GTS model. LEGOLAND says that this was, “built brick by brick with over 424,000 LEGO elements, it took 1,850 hours to complete. A full LEGOLAND “pit crew,” including a designer, six Master Model Builders and three animators, ensured that every detail matched that of a real Ferrari 296 GTS. The model measures 15 feet long by 7 1/2 feet wide by 4 feet tall and weighs almost two tons. Complete with working headlights, an open driver’s side door, and a roaring engine; the LEGO Ferrari 296 GTS model serves as the welcoming showpiece of the attraction’s “garage,” inviting guests to slide behind the steering wheel and imagine what it would be like to race on an F1 racing team.”

Once you see the Ferrari, you can grab a set of wheels and start your car! Make your own race car using the provided bricks and race them around various tracks at different heights. There's also a spot for Duplo cars and racing so children of all ages can participate.

After you build your own car and race it, you can SCAN it so you can virtually drive your car on a huge screen. It's really cute, and everyone seemed to love it.

What to Do Next

When I visit LEGOLAND Florida, Miniland USA is a must-see for me. It's a vast landscape featuring incredibly detailed LEGO replicas of cities and attractions from around the US.

Miniland USA Highlights

  • New York City: I'm always amazed at the miniature LEGO version of the Big Apple, complete with a bustling Times Square and the Statue of Liberty.
  • Washington, D.C.: It's cool seeing national monuments like the Capitol Building and Lincoln Memorial in LEGO form.
  • Las Vegas Strip: A section of Sin City, featuring miniature versions of its iconic hotels and casinos, without the adult environment.
  • Kennedy Space Center: This area has a space shuttle made of LEGO that impresses every time.
  • Pirate's Shores: A swashbuckling scene complete with battling pirate ships and palm trees.

Thrilling Rides

When I want an adrenaline rush at Legoland Florida, these rides are my go-to for excitement.

Coasters and Attractions

The Dragon – This family-friendly coaster sweeps you through a medieval LEGO castle. I find the twists and turns just the right speed for thrill-seekers of all ages.

The Great LEGO Race – This virtual reality coaster takes you on a wild race against LEGO minifigure characters. Make sure your VR headset is secure; it’s a vibrant, fast-paced experience!

Coastersaurus – Perfect for younger kids, this wooden coaster is a thrilling first ride. It zips around prehistoric LEGO creatures, and the dips are gentle but exciting.

Ninjago – This experience is for everyone! We love how fun it is to “fight” as a family.

Shows and Performances

I always make it a point to check out the LEGO City Stage, where the live shows are often the highlight of my visit. Here's a quick look at what you can expect:

  • Pirate's Cove Live Water Ski Show: High-speed boats and daring stunts on the water—it's breathtaking!

We have been able to take our son to LEGOLAND Florida since he was two almost every year. It is one of our favorite things to do for a day trip. It's just the right amount of action, attractions and WATER! Yes, the water park is also a must do. We hope to return again soon to enjoy the wave pool there now that it's hot.
